What does the course cover?
This easy access evening course is ideal for post beginners who want to acquire the practical speaking and listening skills needed to cope with day-to-day scenarios in France. Learn to describe others, talk about your preferences, your ideal partner, make arrangements and plenty more.
The course is communicative in approach focusing on speaking and listening, and employing a range of participative activities. Key structures of basic grammar are introduced inductively.
Is the course at the right level for me?
For those who have completed a beginners course, have equivalent experience or are returning to learning having learnt at a higher level in the past. The focus is on speaking and listening, with intersessional reading and writing tasks. You should be comfortable using the present and present perfect tenses in a range of daily situations to talk about daily routines, past holidays. You should be growing in your confidence to move smoothly between the tenses you have learnt. You may have recently begun to use the imperfect tense.
What will I achieve?
On this course you will learn how to socialise, talk about how are and how things used to be; make plans and make arrangements. By the end of the course you will have more confidence in moving between tenses to talk about the present, past and future. For a more detailed description of outcomes, please refer to our CEFR* standards sheet, all our courses are mapped to this and this course works towards Level A2.
What next?
This course provides the building blocks to enable learners to progress to the next stage: Post Beginners II and then continue to progress all year round.
