What does the course cover?

Well, after switching to book–club mode this summer for a good read and lively debate about Moravia’s Racconti romani, this Autumn we are offering more of our well-tried and tested Intermediate Plus/Advanced programme.

We’ll be mixing and mashing up topics to inspire and excite you. We'll expose you to a range of work and discussion on topical issues, news items, the arts: film, cinema, theatre; exploring the attractions of an Italian region and its people, geography and history; the latest from food and gastro-culture and why not, an influential song and its lyrics! Naturally there's always chance to hone your language knowledge and practise those grammatical structures too.

Is the course at the right level for me?

For this course you should be feeling you can understand the main points of clear standard input on familiar matters you encounter regularly at work and during leisure time. You’ll be able to deal with most situations likely to arise while travelling in an area where standard Italian is spoken. You’ll feel able to produce simple connected text on topics that are familiar or of personal interest.

You’ll also be able to describe experiences and events, dreams, hopes and ambitions and briefly give reasons and explanations for your opinions and plans. You won't need to speak perfect Italian but should feel be feeling slowly more comfortable having a go and naturally, saying what you think!

Our aim now is to give you chance to practise and gain confidence in our very nurturing supportive environment.

This course works towards Level B2+ of the Common European Framework for Languages standards so you should be B1 level

What will I achieve?

You will build your confidence to debate, discuss, persuade, comment and marshal arguments in a wide range of contexts whilst deepening your knowledge of the Italian culture and keeping abreast of topical Italian issues and consildating and extending grammar knowledge.
