LANGUAGE SHOW LIVE

There’s a cosmopolitan buzz in town this weekend as the 26th edition of The Language Show Live kicks off in London today. Europe’s leading annual event for people  passionate about languages offers something for every enthusiast. From Arabic, TEFL, Turkish to Basque: try one of 30 language tasters for free;up your skills with a language intensive; get specialist advice; check out the careers forum and CV clinic; and  find resources from over 130 exhibitors.

For those like us, who have been visiting and exhibiting over the past two decades it is brilliant to see how this once industry-only event has opened up to become Europe’s biggest celebration of languages ‘connecting you a world of opportunity’ as the organisers boast.

Exclusively for 2014,  today Language Show Live will play host to prestigious seminars led by British Academy and Speak to the Future. Parliamentarians, language leaders in business and education from the UK and USA will discuss the subject of understanding the value of languages for employment and the implications for language education policy. Key speakers include Richard Hardie from UBS Ltd., Baroness Coussins of the House of Lords and Bernadette Holmes, principal researcher for the Born Global research project. Today's events will also include a drinks reception marking the launch of the British Academy-Guardian annual language festival.

‘The Language Show Live  runs from Friday 17th October to Sunday 19th October at London Olympia.
